Definition is a joke. It refers to the ability to set the various UCI parameters to "create " new personalities in the game.

The next version (out next week), also includes the following parameters:

- open lines and diagonals;

- seventh (second) horizontal;

- outposts;

- Weak squares;

- etc.

@Robin: yes, i'am Roberto Munter, the author. Houdini is the most powerful engine in the world, at present, but in a longer time games, Deep Saros defends itself very well.

The engine has been tested in numerous long-time games on the site PlayChess.com. The official tester, he nik "Mortal_Sin". Another example:

Houdini 1.5a x64 (6 cores): 27.7 plies; 17.386kN/s Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU X 980 @ 3.33GHz 3337MHz, ArmourOfGod-7.1.0.ctg, 1024 MB

I'm collecting the games in one file, I have about 70 games. Statistically, there are few, but long-time matches "steal" a lot of time...

Surely you've used a version that is NOT compatible with your CPU.

In blitz games D.S. is weaker than Houdini ... But not so much! :-)

In any case, the engine is designed to give maximum in long-time plays. Run tests from 1' is absurd...

Correct. This is strange... You are sure you have correctly set the UCI parameters?

MultiThread = true

CPUs = 4

MultiThread = true

CPUs = 4

I tested deep saros 2.3f, Houdini 1.5a a lot better!!

A new engine which will beat Houdini is not born yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Nevertheless all we hope an another engine champion as Houdini is.

the only thing i changed was the cpu (and checked before hand if it was working) to 8

@picasso:

I do not know what to tell you, many people with i2 and i7 CPUs have good results ... Houdini is stronger, but has not won so much as in your test ...

@jeandis:

Is very easy ... In words! :-)

Houdini is a very strong engine and I doubt that, in the short term, any engine can beat it. But in long time games the difference is less marked. In these cases, even Houdini can be defeated.

Robert Houdàrt did a great job with Houdini, but all new engines (Houdini, StockFish, Critter, etc.) would not be as strong without the ideas and the code of Ippolit series.

With Ippolit, came a new wind in the world of chess engines. It was too long that the commercial chess engine did not produce innovations. The only progress was in the price! Now, the new generation of free engines, will force them to move. Competition is always good for users.
