Scid and ChessGUI

Thank you Bob

I have tested some programs :

Scid - the fastest for open 900mb PGN but read-only, can't manipulate (filter games) for make it lighter the base.

Chessbase - if you are not be in a hurry (take long time for open the file). Can't manipulate the base, too buggy for/only PGN (maybe i have to change the PC 32bit).

Arena - I had not thought of as a publisher of databases, I use it for games of chess engines, it is fast.
I put it ex-aequo with ChessAssistant

Chess Assistant - the best
Fast, lots of options, can read cbh base too .

Here, I tried to be objective . smile

just a note, with chessbase.
you should convert from pgn to cbh than it will be very fast...
you can always convert to pgn again later...

Yes it's their own format, so it's fast and small (40mb PGN - 27mb CBH)
But it became too multimedia (photos, video on bases) not really useful for making opening books.
IMHO,Chessbase 10 was better than 11 on the pgn.
I think the guys who make books of chess openings, if they download pgn bases, they can shrink before importing them.
But hey, it takes for all uses.
