Wow very weird results, this engine draws with Rybka but beats Deep Saros?
And I thought Deep Saros was better than Rybka, meh...

No Vitruvius version does run on GUI Fritz 12, but they run very well (and they are very strong) on F11/CB. Why ?
Ooo, I always enjoy the more aggressive human like engines ... I'll have to post up some results from this round of testing. Thanks for posting

dear, Carotinho, will be that it would be possible, in their next version, put the item (send curr movie), I think the program is beautiful, elegant and may say complete ... I'm just asking this, someone who loves chess.. big hug Marcos

Carotino, if you take requests, it would be really nice if you could add gaviotabase access in the next version?
I'm probably not the only one who has downloaded the entire gaviota base to use with Houdini, but is reluctant to put in the same effort for all the files of the robbobases too... :sm014:
Anyway, Vitruvius is on the way to become my favourite engine!

@mcdiniz: Yes, it's possible. I'll do it in the next version.
@Citizen13: Thanks for the encouragement and for your precious suggestions! :)
Slowly, the engine begins to play like I want to ... But there is still much work to do!
Carotino.
P.S. By the way, someone has a helmet I can borrow? Are falling fragments of NASA satellite "UARS", and one of the possible areas of impact is my town...

There is a slight speed increase (50 Knode/sec, on a medium QuadCores) and a better balance in the positional evaluation functions. In theory, it should be a little stronger...

I`ve been using Vitruvius 0.83b vs Houdini 2.0 in my ongoing corr games for some time now. I have to say I`m very pleased with your engine! I think your (Vitruvius) sacrifice-settings are just remarkable. No other engine seems to understand the style, not even Houdini 2.0. It`s something special. The other engines underestimates it, or something...
And if now 0.84b is even better, well... What to say :sm017:
I`m sorry I can`t post the games because I`m taking part of an ongoing tournament. But for your information it`s "fixed depth"-matches i`m refering to; Vitruvis 25/26 depth, vs Houdini 24/25 depth.
Anyways. Thanks, and keep up the good work :-)

Thx farbrorsniff... But the increase in chess-strength is small.
Andres... It's fantastic, my pumpkin is saved!

Hi again.
Unfortunaly I have a minor problem to report, regarding this 0.84b-version. I use fritz 12 interference (GUI), and this new version don`t seem to use all cores on my PC. When running a "fixed-depth match" between engines, it only show "1 CPU", even though I use your default setting with "Mult-thread". Also I`ve tried to unclick the "Conservative"-optinon, but that didnt help either.
But. When I run a processor-scan, it shows that the processor are using 96-98% of its capasity whil running, wich is perfectly normal.
So... I`m a bit confused. Specially since the 0.83b-version showed "4 CPUs" while running the same fixed-depth match...
Don`t mean to bother you, though...

3m+0s is no test of an engine made for longer games. They're about level in 3m+6s, for example.

Agreed!
Any match between engines WITHOUT any kind of increment is rather pointless, isn`t it? I mean, if you let the engines depth run deeper, its bound to "change its mind". So if you run a (for example) 3 + 0 match, the only thing you know is that the games are not trustworthy...

Okay.
Based on this evidence I think it would be more to the point, or proper, to call Vitruvius a BAD BLITZ ENGINE. In longer games it is holding up perfectly well even against Houdini 2.0.
