Alexandra Kosteniuk will be defending the title she earned two years ago in Nalchik, Russia.
The format is once again a 64-player, 6 round KO event, with Kosteniuk top seeded as the defending champion
All matches will consist of two games at standard time controls (40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes to finish with a 30 second increment from the start) except the final which is contested over four games.
