Hi,I am new and I'm going to buy a book called Logical Chess Move by Move by Irving Chernev. I know how to use the pieces in the board but I have no idea what their role/purpose is. For the pawn, rook, queen, king is simple but for the knight and bishop is different. When I tried to decide what to move between the knight and bishop I choosed the knight but after that I was looking at my 2 bishops and I didn't understand where to move it.
Tactics are helping me sometimes but after a while It gets nowhere.I'm just going back to picking pieces randomly and not understand why that piece moved there.
Is that book a good idea to start with or should I try something else?
