A SSD hard disk in a chess computer makes any difference?
I am assembling a computer for chess and I wonder if it worth buying a SSD hard disk to install chess software (deep Rybka and Deep Fritz 12).

Hello,

but yes!I have my complete windows7 on ssd.
Never again a normal hard drive I use.

Example:

Rybka4 on Normal Sata Hard Drive:
i7 980@4,3 GHz by 128 Hush is 550kns-600kns

Rybka4 on SSD :
i7 980@4,3 GHz by 128 Hush is 650kns-780kns

kns:specified depending on the position

these are details of my system !
other systems are specified other!

but one thing remains the same:higher speed at all !!!

Regards

So I must install the OS and my 2 chess programs in the SSD hard disk and all other stuff (ChessBase, games data, other chess engines, etc) in the other disk (a 1TB storage disk). Is it correct?

Install an operating system on the SSD.
then install everything from chess to ssd.chessbase, fritz, Table Bases and so on.
they use so their ssd only for chess.

they can also install anything on their ssd.no problem.

Sorry but I did not understand
SSDs have small capacity. I can put everything in there?

I meant other programs or software, you can also install on ssd.
of course, only as much as the allowed capacity.

SSD Disk are 2.5 inch.
they require a special bracket for 3.5 inch drive bays !
they cost little money.
some providers are thereby the brackets.
check it when buying.

Yes, you are correct. I too got suckered into buying an SSD, but never noticed any speed differences.
I think this is because houdini only uses the CPU and RAM...any access of the HDD is only for the EGTB.
If it IS accessing the HDD otherwise also, it only means that you need more and faster RAM !
