Both engines are suitable for analysis. There are no search explosion problems.

Hi! When I compiled AVX in the past it was not working. I didn't care much about it because when I measured speed of AVX in other engines it was slower than AVX2.

What CPU do you have? Are AVX compiles the fastest for you? Sources are available, maybe somebody can do it for you.

For recent Intel i3 the fastest should be BMI2. For 1st-3rd generation of i3 the fastest is modern.

I use bmi2 on i7 PC and modern on i5 laptop.
I tested the bmi2 version against avx2 some time ago. Out of 100 matches, bmi2 won one more game.
So, the difference is very small, even negligible. I use bmi2, because I know that bmi2 generally works better on Intel. I have a 4-core i7. Probably the difference in favor of bmi2 increases depending on the number of cores, I'm not sure.
