Rhetoric

new engine by Alberto Sanjuan

Rhetoric has learned to play chess from a selection of games against Grandmasters Karpov of the global elite (Anand, Kasparov, Adams, Gelfand, Bareev, Polgar, etc). We have followed a semi-assisted learning algorithm using genetic algorithms to try to determine much of the weights of the evaluation function.

That makes your style of play is unique in the world.

From the author:

I managed to add a lot of elo points with only 3 changes: Singular Extensions, Late Move Pruning, and applying a new learning (or tunning) algorithm.

I hope to see comments about his style. I think it plays "human" moves. I love the Rhetorical style.

Cheers.

Rhetoric 1.4.1

Hello,
I have an improved version of Rhetoric. The tunning algorithm has been changed and corrected, and now the evaluation is quite different.

In fact, the similarity test between the different versions of rhetoric shows something very curious:

Code:

sim version 3
------ Rhetoric 1.4.1 (time: 50 ms scale: 1.0) ------
95.33 Rhetoric 1.4.1 (bis) (time: 50 ms scale: 1.0)
53.87 Rhetoric 1.2 x64 (time: 50 ms scale: 1.0)
47.27 Rhetoric 1.4 x64 (time: 50 ms scale: 1.0)
44.63 Fruit 2.1 (time: 50 ms scale: 1.0)
43.41 RobboLito 0.21Q x64 (time: 50 ms scale: 1.0)

It looks as if it were a completely different program. I ran the similarity test twice for the new version for verification.

Changes:
- Tunning/learning changed. Using self play with time odds.
- Added UCI_LimitStrength and UCI_Elo options. Very simple, adding a delay in eval.
- Added an option to change the material weigth. You can change the style to make it more positional or more materialistic. Changing the material value from 50% to 200%. The very first game that I played using 50% of the material, was a crushing Tal-style game. Really entertaining, believe me.
- Added an evaluation cache.

Regards.
Alberto.

Rhetoric is a chess analysis module developed in C ++. Rhetoric meets the UCI (Universal Chess Interface) protocol analysis engine serves for popular graphical interfaces. It works perfectly under environments Chessbase, Arena and Winboard.

Rhetoric is not the program's strongest chess world, but plays a very interesting chess. In fact, his behavior could be described as little materialistic, so for strong club players, including teachers FIDE, can become a sparring training to keep in mind.

What differentiates Rhetoric from other programs?

Rhetoric has learned to play chess from a selection of Karpov's games against Grand Masters of the global elite (Anand, Kasparov, Adams, Gelfand, Bareev, Polgar, etc). That makes your playing style is unique in the world.
