Next Stockfish will be stronger than ever. Its progress after the new Stockfish testing framework is beyond imagination.

After just one and a half month from Stock3.0 release +40 ELO gain. Stay tuned.

The sad thing is that maybe some "developers" from other engines will try to pick some of the ideas implemented due to "open source" and just close the code. Be prepared to see something like "Big thanks to Stockfish team, without you Holydoni would not nearly be as good as it is now. ".  Buy it €59,95+VAT .

Thx.

Is the kernel Ippolito exhausted? Ippolito, if I'm not mistaken is generally available to all, every programmer may have to create a chess engine under his own name. It seems that this is happening, so I think there is so enormous amount as someone wrote "invasion clones".

But I see no progress in strength chess engines! Even now, a new chess engine based on Ippolito kernel is almost as strong as the engines of leading the ranking list. Only Houdini 3, the most powerful Ippolito is clearly (not much) better than others, but not much stronger than version 1.5.
Other engines are often weaker than previous versions, and there are no interesting functional. Major disappointment is the new version Komodo MP, Stockfish 3 also does not seem to be clearly stronger than the previous version.

Are any programmers able gradually but significantly improve their products within 2-3 years?
We read sometimes about new concept, such as Rick but it also can be a "little rain from big cloud".

Komodo 5.1MP ,Stockfish 3.0 (dev) versions are stronger than H1.5 and equal to H2.0!

1) Komodo and Stockfish  are not clones of ippolito.
2) Komodo 5.1MP not updated in ccrl, but for sure when it is updated it will near to Houdini 2.0!(only 7 games on single core)
3) Houdini 2.0c 64-bit 3141 elo and Komodo CCT 64-bit 3145

On the last CCRL 40/40 (only long games are important for me!):
Stock.3, ELO-3.177 < Houd.1.5, ELO-3.206
Komodo 5.1 MP has no enough number of games to talk about it.

.................

THE NEW SF3 (DEV) under development is right now about ~+40 ELO stronger than SF3 that was released. If it continues in this pace (and I hope so) it will be soon stronger than H2.

The question of title is very good.

The clarification wide much the debate.
Now without "derivatives",
no project.
These are expected and at the same time "hated".
Nor is there much project
fitty more,
fitty least serious "Ippolit derivatives"

Sometimes the progress of Stockfish seem many, others seem less.

That if, if we pay the product, such as Komodo, all forgiven.

And in the end we forget that behind these products there are about 4000 engines.

"stronger than H1.5 and equal to H2.0" - Ace

This is because, i personally feel that H2.0(more knowledge to draw the game in critical positions) can draw more games than H1.5a.think

What is the evidence your +40 ELO for Stock.DEV. ?
What the evidence?

I started the thread to stimulate discussion for people who know better than I this topic!

It is already around 40 ELO. That´s why the ~ before the +40.

And I know better than you believe me. The guy there said about the dev version. There is a Framework running now with dozens of tests and it is public. One of them is a regression test with the last dev version and the released SF3. In some of those tests with about 20k games the ELO gain is already 38 ELO (+-3).
