there is the regular Thor Rating list

https://www.chess2u.com/t6930p240-100-of-world-s-best-engines-matches-100-best-engines

but another new Thor rating list made a debut
that is the concise version

this concise Thor rating list will test
world's most powerful engines

***

Concise Thor Rating List: version #

* the concise rating list without any TC bias (fixed TC)
* opening book: none
all the rounds will start from the same position
it's ok cuz even if we play 200 rounds from the same position
most of the 200 rounds will be different
so we don't need an opening book
we only need an opening book if we play thousands of rounds or more
* this is a concise and simplied form of match
in which there is no queen
queens need a lot of calculation power
which means if there are no queens in chess
the searching depth will be a lot greater
(with 2 queens in chess, if the searched depth is 20
without the 2 queens, the searched depth will be 30 or so)
* also the chessboard has a lot less chessmen
so the overall searching depth will be great and deep
* also each round will be done very fast
so the total amount of time needed to run 100~200 rounds
will be shortened
* even if this is the concise and simplified version of the regular chess
we can get good and quite accurate elo ratings of engines
from this Concise Thor Rating List
* refer to the regular ThorRating list
for the match settings
other settings like number of cores used
or CPU speed and such follow the same settings
as in the regular ThorRating list
https://www.chess2u.com/t6930p240-100-of-world-s-best-engines-matches-100-best-engines
* the starting board position
8/2rnkb2/2pppp2/8/8/2PPPPP1/2RNKB2/8 w - - 0 1
world's most powerful engines tourney: Concise Thor Rating Qbfqbw10

the first match in this new tourney includes the following

Houdini_4_Pro_w32
Houdini_3_Pro_w32

I ran this concise tourney
but there is more to than meets the eye

if we read these posts here
we will know what kind of speculated and hypothesized benefits
this concise tourney can bring about and accrue
compared to the normal tourney

I thought and made a presumption that
concise tourney only takes 1/2 of the time of the normal tourney

but concise tourney takes even longer time
due to the engines moving around the chessmen hither and thither

they just move around the chessmen for a long time
without getting any results

and the elo ratings I got from this tourney
after hundreds of rounds
are not that accurate anyway!

so in conclusion and in short
the normal tourney is better and more recommended  thumb up
